The author Edward T Duranty is from the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Graduated from Whitefield High School in 1956 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy 1958. Married to his wife Elaine in the same year, they raised three children. Retired in l976 after serving at the Naval Hospital, Newport, RI, Naval Station, Newport, RI, Disciplinary Command, Portsmouth, NH, the USS GRAND CANYON AD28, USS ALBANY CG10, USS TATTNALL DDG19, and as a Hospital Corpsman with the 3rd MARINE DIVISION I Corp Vietnam.  After his retirement he purchased and operated a local hardware business in Middletown, RI.  He attended and received his BS degree at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI.  Served as the President of the Middletown Rotary Club and is a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veteran. He and his wife live in the Portsmouth. RI and Englewood, Fl
